Welcome to the web site of IRMAR

The mathematical research institute IRMAR (Institut de recherche mathématique de Rennes), operating as a laboratory of the CNRS (Centre national de la recherche scientifique), federates the mathematical research within the major higher education institutions of the Rennes metropolitan area, namely:

Université de Rennes 1
École normale supérieure de Cachan
Institut national des sciences appliquées
Université de Rennes 2

and co-operates with Agrocampus and the Centre d'électronique de l'armement.

More than 200 mathematicians are working at the IRMAR, approximately 60 of them being PhD fellows.

Each year about 40 colleagues from various foreign institutions are invited for periods extending from two weeks to two months.

The institute runs eleven weekly seminars, a departmental colloquium on a monthly basis and a variety of mathematical meetings.

The yearly output of the IRMAR is over a hundred publications. Several of our researchers have published reference books.

The library of the IRMAR encompasses more than 28500 books and offers access to 296 journals.
